Hey there šš¼
Iāve thought a lot about what I should address for my first email and a quote by Steve Jobs feels like a good fit: āIf you are working on something that you really care about, you donāt have to be pushed. The vision pulls you.ā If/when this quote resonates with you, youāll truly understand what I mean with this entire email!
First thing first. We all have dreams and aspirations, things that we would have loved to have done at some point in our lives. Sometimes itās not even something as complex as a whole parallel career but something much simpler like a topic that youāre incredibly passionate about and that you want to dedicate part of your life to it - yes, the so-called side hustle.
Let me start by assuring you that both cases are perfectly valid and the mindset I want to tell you about is compatible with both approaches.
This mindset focuses on two words and two words only. I remember the first time Iāve heard them, in a Sean Cannell video, on a Gary Vee presentation, on a David Goggins book and on a Rob Dial podcast. In all cases, the gist was the same and the words, which could vary just a little bit, held the same energy, the same meaning.
Just start.
Yeps, those are the words this fuss is all about but bear with me while I explain the thought process a little better.
You know when you want to do something but for some reason, you donāt start? The time isnāt right, you donāt have all the gear you think you need or you need to do that training. Well, all of those things are holding you back. Whether you like it or not the energy it takes to start something is always high. Youāre faced with novelty, unknowns, self-doubt, etc.
Now letās say that you psyche yourself into the āJust Startā mentality and letās say that you start your venture, create blog posts, videos, podcasts, etc, every week. The sooner you start, the earlier youāll be able to improve, to gather data, understand your audience, heck even start building an audience!
If you read āShow Your Workā by Austin Kleon, youāll understand why itās so important to start early and share your journey of learning a new skill or trying something new. Pat Flynn, author of āSuperFansā also shares the same idea of learning in public. Notice that I say mean succeed. I say learn because even if we fail spectacularly, we pick ourselves up and learn because everything was documented.
As youāre probably connecting the dots you understand that this is my present journey as well, as Iām starting a newsletter for the first time, succeeding at some things but failing at many others. Like I said above, thereās no shame in trying and failing. Worst case scenario we end up learning something new.
Iām a firm believer in a culture of self-improvement, of pushing yourself to new standards, of being in that place of discomfort where youāre forced to adapt to new circumstances.
And at the end of the day think about what Albert Einstein said: āInsanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.ā, so about that project youāve been longing to do? That blog youāve been wanting to write?
Just start.
šŖ Starting a new adventure
As Iām beginning this new adventure, I thought it would be interesting to share my thoughts on what a new leader should do when joining a new team or a company.
We all know the butterfly feeling in our stomach every time weāre in an uncomfortable situation and for a lot of people, starting a new job or meeting new people hits just the right spot.
This guide focuses on nine strategic points that will help you show up confident:
š Introduce yourself to the team
šÆ Understand what your main goal is
š Book your first round of 1:1s
āļø Whoās who
š» Get all setup
š Understand the scope of your team
š¤ What commitments are there in place?
š Dealing with Impostor Syndrome head on
š What I've been reading
Iāve finished reading David Gogginsā āCanāt Hurt Meā a couple of weeks ago. Iāve thought it was a really interesting read, with some extremely personal and brutal details from his early life that undoubtedly had a big part to play in the man he became. Throughout the book youāll go with Goggins through the Navy SEALs Hell Week, unbelievable races like the Badwater Ultramarathon and his unstoppable drive to claim a Guiness World Record in the most pull ups in 24 hours.
I kid you not, this individual, this specimen, is out of this world! You will receive significant amount of dopamine just by reading this life story. Enough I would say to make you get off the couch and start pushing yourself a little bit more that you have yet.

š£ Top quote of the month
Sadly, most of us give up when weāve only given around 40 percent of our maximum effort. Even when we feel like weāve reached our absolute limit, we still have 60 percent more to give!
